Background

Fred Hampton was one of the most dynamic and energetic leaders of the Black Panther Party of self Defence. He was also among the youngest. He joined the party at age 19 and became the Chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party a year later at the age of 20. He was undoubtedly one of the most gifted organizers, educators and orators of that time.
